"Who are you," continued

From there, the "ad man as organizational change agent" positioning proved to be gold. To make a long story short, my work as "iconoclast communications" grew to designing high-energy communications, games, and learning products for companies like Coca-Cola, BellSouth, NationsBank, and more. I became a student of new ways of thinking about organizations, including complexity theory, organizational learning, systems theory, and more.

Along the way, I got my first book published, Outlearning the Wolves. Originally developed for The Coca-Cola Company, I retained the rights when the concept didn't fly there, and sold it to Pegasus Communications, in Cambridge, MA. My father still can't believe someone paid for this.

Wolves is where you can really see my background. This ain't academic writing; It's pure ad copy -- only developed to sell ideas rather consumer products.

And it works. Wolves is in its second edition and keeps on selling; it has been translated into a bunch of languages, and spawned an entire series I call "The Learning Fables." That'll teach Coke a lesson.

Today, some of the most fun I have is designing games and "action learning" with my very talented colleagues all around the country.

When I'm not making games or developing new manuscripts, I am an "organizational story writer." I love to tell the stories of organizational change and innovation by writing annual reports, corporate websites, and more. I also discovered corporate speechwriting. I am deeply energized by the process of helping executives discover, refine and assert their voice. My executive clients have included the CEO of Coca-Cola among others.
