(n.) a person who attacks or challenges traditional or venerated ideas, regarded as erroneous or based on superstition. In the Orthodox Eastern Church of the 8th and 9th centuries, the iconoclasts were a sect who denounced the use of religious images or icons in the church. This group of radicals was known in some cases to tear down these images and destroy them. David Hutchens does not share the original iconoclasts' denouncement of the use of religious images. He does share their passion for shedding revealing light on the old ideas and tired ways of thinking that ultimately serve to limit people and organizations. In church David sits quietly and does not destroy anything. |
