Meet My Partners To spend a career writing is, in many ways, to choose isolation. Good thing I'm an introvert who is prone to self reflection. (Indeed, I was surprised to learn that my Myers Briggs type -- INFP -- has been called "the writer's profile.) At the same time, my work is highly collaborative and dependent upon my partnerships with colleagues, customers, subject matter experts, consultants, publishers, illustrators, and anyone who can make a good latte. I'm proud to introduce to you the people and groups with whom I am proud to call myself a partner, colleague, and friend. Organizational Partners Based in Tampa, Florida, Solutions House is an organization built by two of my closest friends, Donna Burnette and David Dauman, and they are quickly building a portfolio of innovative products. I will be forever proud that I was there when they started Solutions House on a shoestring budget just a few years ago. I took a chance on them; they took a chance on me; and along the way we have accomplished some things that I think are pretty remarkable. Take a look at all of the projects listed under my "Learning Products" menu above, and you'll get a good idea of some of the magic coming out of Tampa. Another organization where I am proud to say I served from its earlierst days. Few groups I work with are as intellectually adventurous as the Plexus people. Although their pursuit of big ideas is intoxicating, what is most exciting about Plexus is their conviction that the science of complexity can be leveraged to create a better world. In 1998, this little publishing company in Waltham, Massachussets took a gamble on an unknown author who had written a business book with talking sheep. Since then we have grown a lot together, and it has been a ton of fun. Today, they are developing some of the richest learning resources on the market. Their yearly conference is something truly special, loaded with a unique brand of wisdom that I have not encountered elsewhere. Creative Genius Partners One of my most frequently asked questions: Who is your illustrator? And can I hire him? Behold the creative genius of my friend Bobby.
I think this gal, a Marriage and Family Therapist, has got some talent. That's why I married her. After nine years of being a full-time mommy, she is now re-entering the marketplace and building a counseling practice here in middle Tennessee. Watch out world -- Robbie has returned. A kindred spirit. I guarantee that if I ever become wealthy I will purchase one of his jaw-dropping sculptures and install it in my back yard by the creek. You owe it to yourself and your spirit to spend a good half hour exploring his website. I think most people can look back to an early point in their career and identify a person who invested in them, believed, and offered a chance. Former IBMer Susan Gerke (along with Dick Richardson, also of IBM) was that person for me. I'll be loyal to her till the end. (And if you need a crackerjack team consultant and facilitator, call Susan without delay.) Customers and Clients My work and my many partnerships have brought me into the corporate halls of the world's greatest and most influential organizations. Here are just a few:
